If I have three credit cards and I am trying to raise my credit score should I cancel one of them?

One credit card is 2 years old with a limit of 3000, one 3 months with limit of 500 and one 2 months with limit 2000. I have no income and do not carry a balance. I was thinking that canceling my 3000 credit might make my credit look better (fewer possible debts since i am a jobless student), but I%26#039;ve heard that canceling a credit card does not really help your credit. What should I do?

I work with credit and I recently had training on this.

A perfect credit profile:

1 mortgage

2 installments

3 credit cards (with balance below 50%).

You may want to pay off your credit cards, but leave them open and just use them occassionally and pif that month.

Ironically, the way to raise your credit score is to go into debt! If you sincerely desire to raise your score, cut two of the cards up, and use the other one to pay for all purchases you make every day. For this to raise your score, however, you MUST pay off the entire balance each time a statement comes.

Good luck!

Do not cancel the credit card, just don%26#039;t use them unless you can make the monthly payments. One factor in credit rating is your History so just stay current and that will help your rating. If you would like to learn some more then may I suggest http://www.thecreditrepairmanual.com
