Yes, you can. The two main agencies that store your credit file are Experian and Equifax.

Both offer full products, such as allowing you to see your credit score instantly on the internet, analysis of your credit history etc, which are paid for services.

However, under the Data Protection Act, you can see the records that they hold on you, ie your basic credit file, and this costs 鎷?.

Both of these cost 鎷? each and the full details are at the urls above. They are sent to you by post in 7 days, and offer a basic view of your file.

You do it for both companies, as they can hold slightly different details for you, ie a debt or credit payment could be registered with one and not the other.

Its a good idea to check both, to make sure they are correct, as some companies use experian to check your credit history, others use equifax.

In future according to my bank, they are going to be merged into one central store, which makes more sense, but for now they are separate.

i have recently checked my own credit rating, if you take a look at www.experian.co.uk you can actually register and look at it online for 30 days for free, they also let you look at your credit score but it costs 鎷?.99, i was shocked when i saw mine!!!! you can instruct them to remove anything you think shouldn%26#039;t be on there too. after 30 days you do have to pay though, its 鎷?.99 per month.

The first answer is the best. Look no further.

However in addition do not be tempted to go to a %26quot;Credit Cleaning company%26quot;. They will rip you off.

Use the C.A.B. They can do the same things for free.

Write to any company that you feel has put unfair or incorrect data on your record, and challenge them about it.

If they ignore you, write again telling them to remove it within seven working days or you will sue for libel. It works, and is surprisingly cheap.
