Can your credit score be affected by not paying for an item on Ebay?

I had an extraordinary family emergency and was not able to access a computer after leaving work on a Friday in order to pay (or at the very least explain I would not be able to attend due to the emergency). Now the seller is being really inconsiderate. Can this truly become a problem if taking to court, and reported to the credit agencies?

I have been late paying.... but I `ve never heard of anyone taking you to court, usually they have a review board that takes into account your disposition, I think if it happens alot they just don`t allow you to deal with E-Bay anymore.

Not if they dont have your social security number. Even if taken to court, it has nothing to do with your credit.

Absolutely not! Ebay is not a financial institution, not the lending kind anyway. Not paying for an item will get you 1 strike, and perhaps Negative Feedback from that seller, but that%26#039;s it! I don%26#039;t see a court getting involved in non-payment of an auction. The credit agencies will ignore any such request. Don%26#039;t worry about it, and if you feel the seller has been unreasonable - leave them Negative Feedback, that%26#039;ll probably be more hurtful to them than you....

No because you have not been sold anything on credit. The seller has not supplied the item to you because you have not paid.

Therefore you have not been given credit (and had the seller sent it without payment, they would have to be licensed for credit and you have a legal right to see the credit license number [UK only]).

Unless it is credit/lending of money then no. Only financial institutions or those who give credit (such as gas/electric companies) can affect someones credit score.
