There is only one type of credit inquiry that counts toward your FICO score and that%26#039;s when you apply for a mortgage, auto loan or other credit, you authorize the lender to request a copy of your credit report. Your own credit report requests, credit checks made by businesses to offer you goods or services, or inquiries made by businesses with whom you already have a credit account do not count toward your credit score. I personally go through www.creditmonitoring.citi.com and this allows me to view all three credit report along with my scores. If you decide to stay with the service, I think now its 12.99 they will give you an updated report each month so you know exactly where you are at. Also, a tool I found helpful because I wanted to improve my credit score was there credit analyzer, it has different scenarios that tell you if you are going to improving your score or not if you take certain actions such as paying down debt or closing out credit cards you no longer use. I hope that this works out for you and have a great day.

there are two kinds of credit hits ,a soft hit and a hard hit. Credit report companys get a soft hit because of their contracts to provide credit reports from the three major agencys. i check my credit report every 45 days or so and have done so for about two years and it has never affected my score or shown on my report. i use www.creditreport.com and buy the 30.00 dollar one but thats niether here nor there , i think the home page will explain it also. go and check it out, the first report is free i think

Most of these answers are making the mistake of effecting your credit REPORT not your credit SCORE.

You can always check your own credit REPORT and that will have no effect on your credit score.

To check your credit SCORE, you will have to pay a fee each time you want to see it, you can get discounts by subscribing to certain products offered by the CRA%26#039;s.

There are 3 different CRA%26#039;s (Experian, TransUnion %26amp; Equifax) and each one has a credit score and almost certainly all 3 will be different scores, hopefully they will all be close
