How to you achieve a credit score if you never used a credit card?

How is bad credit and good credit determined, and given my situation, how do I make it better.

Please help because I%26#039;m thinking about giving a credit card a try since people owe hundreds and thousands of dollars on them, and somehow continue to be approved. Don%26#039;t get it.

I am amazed on how many people give bad credit advice.

You are only going to achieve a certain score without having a credit card acount. Remember NO credit and bad credit are pretty equal. How to determine good credit vs bad credit really depends on the creditor (the one who is deciding to give you an account or not) they have criteria that they are looking for. Anything over 675- 700 is a good score. A good credit report will have a mix of different accounts, credit cards, installment accounts (like car loans), and mortgage accounts.

******* This is tricky, but will work**********

Credit cards will increase your credit score, A LOT. The trick is to not use them, which is really hard to do. I have 6 credit cards (that all show opened) I only use 2. The other cards are just there to keep a certain credit score. You don%26#039;t need 6, even a couple will help your score.

Before I had any credit cards my credit score was average and it stated that I did not have any PREMIUM revolving accounts. So I applied for an American Express and Discover (within a 2 year period). My credit score jumped almost 100 points.

If you have credit cards, with a high credit limit, and a low balance. This lets other credit grantors know that you are trustworthy. You have the options to spend all this money, but you are responsible.

** Remember the trick is not to spend a lot on them. If you add a lot of debt to your credit report, you will see your score decrease. Ohh, for all those people who owe hundres and continue to be approved, what are their finance rates ??

A fico score of 0 is the best score to have. Don%26#039;t ruin that by getting a credit card. People may continue to be approved, but the average american is 35,000 in debt to credit cards. Is that what you want for yourself? I bet everyone of them said it wouldn%26#039;t happen to them too.

A good credit rating is very important, and you can get it in several ways. Take out a small loan, then pay it off each month. Then do it again. Each time you make regular payments (on time), it helps your overall score. If you do open a credit card account, do the same. Don%26#039;t miss a payment, and do not run up a large outstanding total. Pay off your total credit card bill, if you can, each month to avoid charges which can be as high as 26% of the balance on some cards. Do not open up a lot of credit card accounts because that will lower your rating. They look at your total liability on all cards and compare it to your income, so start small. Buying a car and making payments on time also is a good way to establish credit.
